Hey All,

I hope you have been enjoying the summer. Besides the intense heat wave that has hopefully passed over NYC, things have been pretty low key here. Rather, I should say as low key as they can be, given our current atmosphere of political and social injustice/unrest, of course. Now is a time more than I ever that I believe the music/art community as a whole needs to create, share, and speak up – in times like these, the community is a crucial element in keeping us all united and focused on the important issues at hand.

My quartet’s CD release, “More Figs and Blue Things” will be released on October 10th on the Inner Circle Music label. Greg Osby and INCM have been nothing but supportive throughout the development of the album, and I’m very grateful to be a part of the INCM family. Our release show will be held on Thursday, October 20th at the Jazz Gallery in NYC. The band features myself, pianist Glenn Zaleski, bassist Desmond White, and drummer Colin Stranahan. We’re very excited to get this music out to all of you. There are some other exciting performances this fall, as well – feel free to check out the Schedule page for more information.

The documentary I was cast in a couple of years ago is set to premier as a seven part web-series around the time of our release this fall, as well. The series is now called “Working Musician”; you can view the trailer as well as more info at http://workingmusician.tv, and “like” the Working Musician FaceBook Page to stay in the loop for updates.

I’ll be revamping my website and getting the food blog back up and running again soon. As always, thank you for your continued support and for stopping by. See you around –

Alex
